Another view of Izzy’s room in the ULMARRA PUB. Down below is his WIDE RIVER CAFE Sign. He is back up there Thursday might for the SOUTH GRATON EMPORIUM Music Night and then next week for a Mother’s Day gig at SOUTH GRAFTON EX SERVICES CLUB in aid of the Hospital Auxiliary.
I am not going back up with him as yet. I am staying down here on the Bellinger for the moment. Soon, I shall go back and visit with the WIDE RIVER FAMILY in Ulmarra. I shall go back and enjoy the buildings and the memories.
Not yet ! The Charade should be back on the Road tomorrow, so they tell me at NAVIN BROS. Rust cut out and other oddities repaired.
We might take a look at Bowraville as well this week.
I put the remains of a Timbertown Meat Pie
on the fence for him
– but he won’t eat it.
Burra in his tree.
Did Bellingen today. Quietly. We headed up NORTH BANK ROAD. Driving up North Bank soothes my soul. It leads straight to Kati B and S.L. G. In the 1960s I took my sister up North Bank when she was learning to drive. She was accustomed to riding motor bikes and it was a hair raising experience with her winding along this back road. I don’t think its any better now than it was then – but it is beautiful.
We did the YELLOW SHED for gifts and then we went to GURU FOODS for lunch. I was watching the people over at the CWA Rooms. Wednesday is SHIATSU and ACUPUNCTURE clinic. Reduced rates. I would have liked to have gone over and will do so as things continue to settle down. I think it is $40 a treatment and $25 for concessions.
We were eating. Baby has been coming to Guru since she was born.
GURU GOODS is a happy place for the four of us. I have a ginger drink which is immaculate. Izzy goes the Guru Burger. Katie B has something I don’t recognise and I have an indecent meal of potatoes baked and split with sour cream and Young Zaf thinks she should be joining in.
Its seems to have been a very long day due to the Visit to Coffs. It has led me to sitting here in the Cottage at Raleigh, at night – drained. Izzy has been experimenting with the Sony Cybershot while he was on the Clarence and uploaded the pictures this evening. Here is one of his fine pumpkins which we left behind in Ulmarra. The Green Frog looks well pleased.
He stayed the night in the Ulmarra Pub. That followed the gig at Tucabia. The room featured this fine fireplace and a view of the Clarence River. I am glad to be back on Bellinger but I surely miss the architecture of the Clarence. I also miss the easy acceptance we found there and actual affection.
Well – I am back in my own Valley now so lets sit about at night and think about things.
I was watching the birds this morning, as I do. Ulmarra was very fine for birds. I saw Brolgas there after last year’s May floods and jabirus and the cattle egrets were there in the hundreds.
I took two wee videos of the brolgas on the little camera. Being with Brolgas was an experience I had not had before. They stood 3-4 feet high.
Bed for me now. I shall leave Coffs out of tomorrow’s exploring and tackle it some other time. I did find the HAPPY FROG, an organic restaurant which looks good. I shall also seek out CAROBANA next time. But not tonight and not tomorrow.
Back to Bello tomorrow. Kombu Foods for Muesli ingredients and a visit to the Baby and her Mum. My next venture is planned to be a walk to the end of the Urunga Breakwall. Tonight it is full moon in Raleigh.
